Okay, I did sorta create this with no real explenation, so here it is:
There are 6 elements (ten, actually, though four of them are extinct or very rare) that are given to a person by the legend they represent. They can be read in several ways, the easiest way is to use a soulstone. They often affect the personality of the person they're given too. It's unknown how the elements are chosen, but it is often affected by the environment they live in. If they have to fight or steal a lot, for example, they usually end up dark. More often than not, it is believed that the personality is chosen by the legends before the element is chosen. The only element this doesn't apply to is true, as it has been shown that all the trues in history have been in the same blood line.

Common Elements
Fire
Represented by Fénix (the pheonix) people of the fire element are rash, crafty and often rather devous. Fire, alongside thunder and water, is one of the most common elements. People of the fire element are often very fast and active people, they are passionate too, and very crafty.
Water
Another common element, represented by golfinho (the dolphin). They are the element of two shades, they can be cool, smart and easy-minded at times, at others they are short-tempered and prone to outbirsts.
Thunder
Represented by guaxinim (the racoon), a common element. They are similar to fire, they are rash and impulsive, but usually good-natured. They do not work well as a team, but strive to be with friends. Because of their impulsive nature, they work well under pressure, and are one of the best elements for cat-runs.
Uncommon/Rare Elements
Grass
A wise, simple element represented by fada (the fairy). They are down to earth, relatively calm and rarely get angry. They look to the bright side, and can be a good parent or tutor. They learn quickly and well, but are relatively weak psyically.
Psychic
Represented by vagalume (the firefly). Psychic people work well alone, they are often the most accosiated with legends. They are good at a variety of jobs, they are skilled fighters and make good cat-runs, but also calm and relaxed enough for office jobs. They are often relatively week with raw power.
Dark
A somewhat rare element represented by sombra (the shadow). They are evil, smart creatures sually driven by bad intentions. They are good in a variety of odd skills, they are fast and sleek, and can perfectly mimic any person they choose.
Extinct
True
Usually regarded as extinct even though it's not, True is the rarest and most powerful of all the elements. Represented by raposa (the kitsune) people of the True element are good-natured, optimistic and brave. They can also be very mischievous and moody, but almost always end up making the right decision.
Growth
Not really extinct, the growth element is common for children, before their personality had developed, but since it's never been found in people older than 10 it's never really been a proper element. Represented by gatinho (the kitten).
Magic
One of the extinct elements, once very common. They eventually died down. People of the magic element, represented by estrelas (the star demon), the magic is a unique element with no definite personality.
Primitive
Represented by dentestável (the sabre-tooth tiger) the primitive element is one of the earliest elements that is now extinct.
